You have a full control over yourself

I am not much of a tetchy or geeky chic, but I know a thing or two about computers. Take Microsoft Word, for example. I know that I can copy and paste stuff I don’t feel like writing all over again. I know I can cut stuff I don’t like in a document I’m working on. I also know that if I don’t like some new applications that I installed or get bored with them over time, I can restore everything back to its default settings by uninstalling them and get rid of them.Every time I buy a gadget, the first thing I always make sure that I know how to do is to go "back" and "exit" things till I get to the "home page". Some are difficult, though.

It’s amazing we all have our very own default settings. It took a while for me to find out where my "back" and "exit" buttons were. They were there, but I was still blind to that fact. I did not even know I had a "homepage", so my "computer" was pretty messed up and was infected by some viruses. Every time I added staff, I did not like it, but I did not know how to "undo" it, so I painted that part black and moved on to something else. As we all know, "life happens", so every time I do something foolish, I want to erase that part and do something smart instead. But again, I did not know my back-button, so once more I painted it. This time I used a different colour to make it look "artistic" and pretty, but that did not take away the foolishness.

Stay with me, I’m headed somewhere with this.

We all have that one thing that we always go back to. Some people call it a "kryptonite." That which weakens you and has the power to kill you. I wouldn’t call it a thorn in the flesh, but rather an enemy of progress.

For some, it’s an addiction that they keep going back to even after vowing to change. For others, it’s a relationship that they keep going back to, yet they know in their hearts they deserve better. They keep dating the same "type" of person. The only difference is the names. They end up saying all men and women are the same. For others, it’s just depression. They laugh and play and pray and dance with people in church, but when they get home, when all the applications have been closed, they slowly slip back to gossiping, slandering, mocking people, and so they end up looking bipolar. For some, they have gone through so much that they lose touch with their emotions. They just don’t seem to feel things anymore. So they adopt a tough exterior to cover up the brokenness they feel inside. It’s a form of dysfunction that you keep going back.

It’s like your home. No matter what happens, you just can’t seem to catch a break or even leave the crazy cycle. Every time the cycle repeats, it forms a kind of "default setting" that is engraved in their mind so they embrace it and accept it as being who they are. So with time, it becomes their "default setting."

Your default setting is meant to be the original you that God created. The "undo", and "exit" buttons are made available by God once you accept Christ and are forgiven for all your sins. Once you fall into sin as a believer, you hit undo through prayer by asking for forgiveness. You use the exit button by believing that you have been forgiven and by actually forgiving yourself and choosing to leave the page of condemnation.

The reason why it’s easy for one to adopt the dysfunctional default setting is that, in most cases, it’s easier to fall back on what is familiar than to embrace a new way of doing things. Familiar territory brings with it comfort, no challenge, and a lot of relaxation, but it also brings stagnation and, shortly after death, the power of Christ’s resurrection can uninstall everything we have put on ourselves or life has put on us, and completely wipe the slate clean. He has the power to return us to our factory settings, where everything is brand new, as if it has never been used before, exactly as he designed it. He has the power to undo intense damage that has been caused over the years and to give a new, clean heart and to renew the spirit. He does not just forgive us of all our sins, but cleans us up, heals us from all our bruised emotions, hurtful memories, and difficult pasts, and restores us. He says; Joel 2:25-27 (Amplified Bible)
"And I will compensate you for the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the creeping locust, the stripping LOCUST, and the gnawing locust—My great arm which I sent among you. "You will have plenty to eat and be satisfied. Praise the name of the LORD your God, who has dealt wondrously with you. My people will never be put to shame. And you will know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I am in Israel to protect and bless you, and that my name is the LORD your God. There is no other. My people will never be put to shame. So it’s time to be restored to your original default setting. "

God reveals in order to redeem

The enemy you know is less persuasive than the enemy you don’t know. In most cases, God displays himself to us in dreams or in visions. So whenever God discloses it to you. He is warning you to take a step and to act upon what he revealed. One thing you should perceive is that your enemy is not your neighbor, sister, colleagues, etc. We only have one enemy, which is the devil. Satan is very manipulative and if you aren’t prayerful enough, you’ll end up falling in to his traps. The day you’ll understand, you’ll avoid despising them.

How to depend on Jesus

The things of this world cannot fill the empty space within us; only Christ can complete us. This embodies for us that we need Jesus more than anything else on this planet. God did not put us here to rely on ourselves, but to rely on him for everything. We can't survive without him, which is why the Bible cautions us not to rely on our own understanding, because our understanding can fail us and our hearts can lead us astray. Physically, we may appear to be capable of doing things on our own, but on the inside, we are slowly dying. I don’t know about you, but if you haven't yet accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, it’s not too late. The Bible encourages us in Jeremiah 33:3 that if we call on God, he will answer us and tell us things we don't know. God is waiting for your call today. He is waiting for you to come to him and ask him to show you the way. Here is a short prayer to seek God: Heavenly Father, please forgive me for all of my transgressions against

How do we allow our past to not define us

Even if you don't have everything together, rest certain that God sees you as his priceless possession. Your past does not define who you are today. In actuality, from a spiritual viewpoint, who you are today is not determined by your past. It might affect your thoughts, but it doesn't make you who you are. God proclaims our true identity: that we are made in His likeness and in His image, reflecting both the male and female facets of God (according to Genesis 1:26-27).
