How to intercede effectively

Intercession is prayer that pleads God to meet your needs as well as the needs of others. Intercession entails seizing God’s will and rejecting to let go until his will is fulfilled. Paul clarified in Romans 8:26-27 that we do not know what we have to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us.

Here are five effective methods for interceding.

1. Examine your heart for sin: Ask God to search for your heart to see if there is any sin in your life that is preventing you from hearing God’s voice.

Most of the time, sin is the source of the static noise that prevents us from hearing clearly what God is saying. When God reveals a sin to you, take the time to confess it right away. That is where his grace and voice can be found (1 Peter 5:5-6).

2. Praise God: Take time to praise and thank God for his goodness and for his desire to work with you in intercession. Thank him, in faith, so that he will communicate with you.

We recall, who this prayer time is all about-God himself. He also calls us to “enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise.” (According to Psalm 100:4)

3. Meditate on God’s word: Using the words of the Bible’s scriptures is one of the most effective way to intercede. Request that the Holy Spirit shows you a specific verse or passage in the Bible that may apply to the situation you are praying about. Make the words your own and turn them into a prayer.

4. Hand over your thoughts, agendas, and distractions: We confess to God that we do not want to walk in our own wisdom or good ideas about how to pray (Proverbs 3:5-6). As a result, we submit our minds and emotions to the Lord in order to hear him more clearly.

5. Resist the enemy: Declare, “I resist, reprove, bind up and cut off you, Satan, in the name of Jesus.” It’s critical that we assert our authority here. We’re told that if we resist the enemy, he’ll flee (James 4:7). The enemy will try to disrupt our intercession time by instilling fear, apathy, or unbelief. In our time of intercession, we must recognize spiritual warfare and deal with the adversary.

God reveals in order to redeem

The enemy you know is less persuasive than the enemy you don’t know. In most cases, God displays himself to us in dreams or in visions. So whenever God discloses it to you. He is warning you to take a step and to act upon what he revealed. One thing you should perceive is that your enemy is not your neighbor, sister, colleagues, etc. We only have one enemy, which is the devil. Satan is very manipulative and if you aren’t prayerful enough, you’ll end up falling in to his traps. The day you’ll understand, you’ll avoid despising them.

How to depend on Jesus

The things of this world cannot fill the empty space within us; only Christ can complete us. This embodies for us that we need Jesus more than anything else on this planet. God did not put us here to rely on ourselves, but to rely on him for everything. We can't survive without him, which is why the Bible cautions us not to rely on our own understanding, because our understanding can fail us and our hearts can lead us astray. Physically, we may appear to be capable of doing things on our own, but on the inside, we are slowly dying. I don’t know about you, but if you haven't yet accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, it’s not too late. The Bible encourages us in Jeremiah 33:3 that if we call on God, he will answer us and tell us things we don't know. God is waiting for your call today. He is waiting for you to come to him and ask him to show you the way. Here is a short prayer to seek God: Heavenly Father, please forgive me for all of my transgressions against

How do we allow our past to not define us

Even if you don't have everything together, rest certain that God sees you as his priceless possession. Your past does not define who you are today. In actuality, from a spiritual viewpoint, who you are today is not determined by your past. It might affect your thoughts, but it doesn't make you who you are. God proclaims our true identity: that we are made in His likeness and in His image, reflecting both the male and female facets of God (according to Genesis 1:26-27).
