God's reason for allowing Job to suffer

Satan thought he had taken everything from Job, but God was everything to Job.

Job had been in excruciating pain for months, with open sores all over his body. During this time, he was dealing with the loss of seven sons and three daughters. His entire fortune had vanished in a single day.

Job's sufferings were deliberately chosen by God to prove to Satan and the armies of heaven that he valued God's worth more than his possessions, family, and health.

In the book of Job, Job's self-professed love for God shows that he loved God more than anything else in the world.

Scripture reference:

Job 1:1

Job 9:13,17-18

Job 10:2,3,7

There is so much suffering in the world today, and it is felt by everyone to one degree or another.

Sometimes, people suffer as the direct result of their own poor choices, or willful irresponsibility; in those cases. We see the truth of Proverbs 13:15, "The way of the treacherous is their ruin." What about the innocent who suffer and why would God allow that?

The good news is that God did not abandon us to suffer in vain. Yes, the innocent suffer (see Job 1–2), but God is able to redeem their agony. Our loving and merciful God has a perfect plan to use our suffering to achieve his threefold goal.

First, he uses pain and suffering to entice us to cling to him. Trials and tribulations are not unusual in life; they are a natural part of being human in a fallen world.

We have an anchor in Christ that will hold fast in all of life's storms, but how will we know that if we never sail into those storms? We reach out to him in times of despair and sorrow, and if we are his children, he is always there to comfort and uphold us through it all.

God reveals in order to redeem

The enemy you know is less persuasive than the enemy you don’t know. In most cases, God displays himself to us in dreams or in visions. So whenever God discloses it to you. He is warning you to take a step and to act upon what he revealed. One thing you should perceive is that your enemy is not your neighbor, sister, colleagues, etc. We only have one enemy, which is the devil. Satan is very manipulative and if you aren’t prayerful enough, you’ll end up falling in to his traps. The day you’ll understand, you’ll avoid despising them.

How to depend on Jesus

The things of this world cannot fill the empty space within us; only Christ can complete us. This embodies for us that we need Jesus more than anything else on this planet. God did not put us here to rely on ourselves, but to rely on him for everything. We can't survive without him, which is why the Bible cautions us not to rely on our own understanding, because our understanding can fail us and our hearts can lead us astray. Physically, we may appear to be capable of doing things on our own, but on the inside, we are slowly dying. I don’t know about you, but if you haven't yet accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, it’s not too late. The Bible encourages us in Jeremiah 33:3 that if we call on God, he will answer us and tell us things we don't know. God is waiting for your call today. He is waiting for you to come to him and ask him to show you the way. Here is a short prayer to seek God: Heavenly Father, please forgive me for all of my transgressions against ...

Wait upon the LORD

Life resembles a route. Additionally, there will be stop signs and speed limit or increase signs along the route! I chose to use this analogy because there are times in life when all you have to do is wait on the Almighty. And just get more prayer done when you feel like a situation has triumphed over you. Simply put on the gear and switch it out. There are moments when we may feel as though the Lord is not seeing us, hearing us, or responding to our prayers. We can place all of our faith and belief in the living God at these times. Knowing that the Lord is with us and in charge of our lives allows us to wait on Him with great anticipation. He is going to fulfill his promise. He is going to save us. Even when we are not aware of Him, He is constantly at work for our good (Romans 8:28). Waiting on the Lord is something we can learn through prayer, seeking, active trusting, patience, and courage. When we wait on the Lord, we confidently anticipate a favorable outcome, for which we ...
